Alyssa is originally from Minnesota and has always been dancing. As a young girl, she studied tap, ballet and modern dance and came across Lindy Hop and Salsa while in high school. By 2002 she was studying Vocal Performance at Lawrence University when the dance bug bit her again. Alyssa began taking ballroom lessons and was quickly offered a job.
She started teaching dance and began competing professionally while living in Twin Cities before moving to Nashville in 2010. There she began her successful 5-year long professional partnership with Mark Short competing in the American Smooth style. She has been featured teaching on reality TV, has participated in local Dancing with the Stars fundraising events and can be found teaching alongside legends of the ballroom world.
Alyssa's true passion is to teach and compete with her award-winning students and amateur couples. Her training is ongoing and she is an avid learner in all areas of dance, performance and life.

She re-located to Charlotte in 2019 to start her family where she teaches and coaches on a limited basis.
